Community Service Projects

In 2026, we are partnering with Volunteer KC to make canvas Navigational Bags designed for homeless people with a printed map of the city on one side and vital services on the other. VKC will fill the bags with essential items and distribute them to those in need. The printed canvas kits will be available at meetings. 

We will also continue this year to work with The Sewing Labs to make handmade Walker Bags and Children’s Activity Bags for St. Luke’s Hospital.

Patients will use the walker bags as they navigate life with a walker. These fun and durable bags are designed to hold phones, keys, a book, and other everyday items, bringing independence and freedom to patients.

If you are not using a kit, materials needed are:

  • 1 piece 42″ x 16″ heavy weight fabric
  • 1 piece 42″ x 16″ light weight fabric (lining)
  • 2 pieces ribbon 1/2 to 3/4″ wide x 26″ long

The Sewing Labs is partnering with St. Luke’s Hospital to create handmade Activity bags for children undergoing treatments. These colorful, durable bags are designed to hold toys, games, puzzles, and other comforting items, bringing joy and support to young patients during challenging times.
