Since 1997, Starlight Quilters have donated blankets to Project Linus for local hospitals and other organizations that help children in traumatic situations. We comforted 100 children in the first four years.
In 2016 we comforted more than five times that many children with 541 blankets made and donated.
2020 marks the 23rd year of Starlight's participation in Project Linus.
The Kansas Ctiy area Project Linus needs your blankets, throws, afghans, quilts!!!! They have been asked for over 6000 blankets for Christmas, for children over the age of 7! There has also been a minimum size change to 40" x 40".
The latest from Project Linus:
"We have now had requests for over 6000 blankets. I know, don't panic. We can meets the needs of all but the one wanting over 5000 blankets and we will get them as many as we can. Please just turn in what you can and we will go from there. This will be an ongoing need and we we'll start collecting for next year also!
"Please no blankets less than 40 x 40! We are chainging our minimum size to 40 x 40. We only have one spot for anythign smaller and we have plenty of those.
"Please put your blankets in bags when dropping them off to make it easier to pick up."
